A coating pan, often referred to as a conventional coating pan, is a widely used machine in pharmaceutical manufacturing for applying sugar, film, and protective coatings to tablets and pellets. As described in standard pharmaceutical engineering texts, the conventional system consists of a rotating stainless steel pan mounted at an angle, which allows tablets to tumble continuously while the coating solution is applied and dried.
The machine is built on a rigid MS structure with stainless steel cladding to ensure durability, hygiene, and compliance with cGMP requirements. The SS coating pan is enclosed within a cleanable housing and supported on vibration-damping mounts so that no foundation is required. The airflow system includes filters and controlled heating, ensuring uniform drying—an essential principle noted in tablet coating technology.
In accordance with typical safety features mentioned in pharmaceutical equipment manuals, the electrical system includes an interlock that allows the heaters to operate only when the blower is running, preventing overheating. The mouth ring of the pan is seamlessly soldered to avoid dead spaces and contamination risks. High-quality components such as helical gear drives, induction motors, and branded electrical controls are used for reliable operation. Optional features such as thermostat temperature control and flameproof or explosion-proof assemblies are available when required.
